Reviews and Ratings
The hotel is situated in the Wokefield, not the mansion, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The rooms in a separate building were spacious and nice, though the bathroom heating couldn't be turned off. The service offered was extremely helpful, although lacking in team coordination and training. The location seemed stunning, and the staff were very helpful despite Storm Dennis limiting outdoor exploration. The dining experience was a bit expensive and canteen-style, with some service delays. Overall, the hotel presents a mix of positives and negatives in various aspects.
The hotel had stunning grounds but the room was smaller than expected, suitable for families with children. Service varied with some rude staff but others like the guest relations manager, Bevan Hardcastle, were fantastic. The location was remote, making me feel disconnected, although the English countryside was nice. The dining experience had some issues with cold food and long waits for coffee. Facilities were average.
My stay at the hotel was truly exceptional. The rooms were without a doubt second to none - absolutely incredible. They were very basic but typical of a conference hotel. The size was very good, comfortable, nicely decorated, and exceptionally clean. However, there was an issue with the unexpected £50 charge for extras that we didn't authorize, explained as a pre-authorization but felt more like a payment.
I stayed in a room right above the hotel's main entrance, which unfortunately did not have air conditioning, making it uncomfortably hot. The room was located in a separate building that was a 10-minute walk from the nearest reception. It was not as expected, being small, damp, with stains, and in need of renovation.
My stay at the hotel was a bit of a mixed bag. While the rooms were outdated and in need of refurbishment, the car training center and conference facilities added some practicality. However, the breakfast experience was disorganized and the food was just warm, not hot, which was a downside.
